410 handgun

Have you read of the many and varied opinions on the Taurus Judge handgun? It is a 45lc/.410 shotshell pistol. I do not have one, but did consider one for similar reasons to the "carjacker" one you posted. You might find researching it ...Stevens "Off-Hand" 410 Pistol" NFA FIREARMS & RELATED ITEMS.It only holds 5 rounds which is a downside for the weapon but it fires 410(short range), 45 acp, 45(longer range) long colt and a huge assortmet of other special rounds that can be chamberd all seperately. I bought this weapon for home ...i saw a box of 2.5" .410 in wm that said federal handgun. what's the deal with that and why would it be any different than regular .410? i figured it was a lighter load for the "judge" so it would be easier to handle. ...Taurus has introduced a handgun that may just be the ideal trail gun/home defense weapon/car gun – its very versatile for short distance targets. This new Taurus is chambered for the .45 colt cartridge and .410 shotgun rounds. ...anybody selling a used 410 handgun?I have finally gotten a chance to fire a few rounds from my new Mossberg 500 Pump Shotgun in 410 bore. I think it is a keeper. Since I have a few. While you are testing the .410 Buckshot loads, you might want to give those Federal buckshot loads a test as well. Designed for (at least so sez the box) the Taurus Judge .410/.45LC handgun. The box says it has 4 000 buck per shot, ...I am looking for a small light shotgun to keep in the trunk when I travel into states that won't honor my Indiana carry license. This shotgun is.
If I have a shotgun in .410 caliber, it can also chamber and safely shoot .45 colt, right? (assuming choke isn't an issue)
But I recently learned it may also be able to chamber .454 casull and .460 S&W magnum?
the above two share a similar case with .45 colt, the parent case of the 460 is the 454 and the 454 was born out of the 45 colt case.

since its a shotgun, the shotgun chamber (3") would be large enough to chamber the 3 different handgun cartridges?

what about pressure? even though its always best to only shoot what the gun is specifically chambered for, could most .410 shotguns safely shoot .454 casull and 460 magnum?

if all of the above is true, I think I found myself a new paw/survival gun!

I know today the trend is toweds ballistic charts and large bores, so I expect that, still mine are
Handguns:
1 45 acp target & personal defense
2 9mm target & personal defense
3 22 lr / magnum recreational shooting

Rifles
1 7.62 x 39 mm deer hunting and varmints.
2 22 lr / Magnum for varmints and recreational shooting
3 12 gauge and .410 bore for multi purpose shotguns.

I am thinking of trying out the 327 Federal Magnum so I can use my supply of 32 S & W long for trail gun purposes. Besides I need another revolver, but I haven't ruled out the 357 magnum/ 38 special either. Any suggestions in regards to the brand I should look at?
Towards not toweds ha sorry

I'm highly interested in purchasing a few boxes of Federal's new .410 handgun ammunition but I can't find anyone that has it in stock or will even allow back order.

Do you know of any place that has is available online?

The pistol I am interested in acquiring is the Thunder 5 pistol that chambers both .410 gauge and .45 long colt ammunition. I have checked that the company that manufactured the pistol, (MIL, Piney Flats, Tn.) is on the list of approved firearms. The problem that has risen is that to get the firearm shipped into the state, a ballistic fingerprinted bullet would be required that was fired by the manufacturer. However, MIL went out of business in the late 90's so I am currently unsure of how to go about getting the said fingerprinted bullet. I've asked around at the local gun store but they were unsure of how to solve this problem as well. Thank you for your time and I appreciate any feedback.

I know there are handguns produced(like the Thunder 5) that do chamber .410 shot shells, and the .500 S&W Magnum currently claims top dog at the moment for most powerful commercial cartridge. I've even seen a custom made hand cannon chambered in .50 BMG(for some strange reason it was only fired twice..)but I'm looking for semi auto hand cannon ballistics. Would a .50AE come out on top, or has someone designed a new round that makes this touted chambering look like a cap gun? When answering though please remember that although the .475 Wildey Magnum rates a 1700ft/lbs. to the .50AE's 1229, there are not too many gun stores that stock .475 and Since Wildey F.A. Inc is the only manufacturer to offer this chambering it's relegated more to handloaders and special orders. Im looking for a round that I can walk into a local gun store and know they'll have it on hand.
Thanks y'all for replying but I have to point out a few things. I doubt the .50BMG is a hangun round by design and i'll take into account the .44 magnum since the DE chambers it, but rounds like the .454Casull are not available in semi autos. What is y'alls opinion of the .45 Winchester Magnum? I know that the LAR Grizzly is chambered for it(athough Grizzly's are becoming harder to find. Trust me I'm lookin!) I mentioned the .50AE because, at least in my area, it's not too difficult to find. All the shops carry it. Yikes $20 for .380!! I feel your pain bro!

hello i have perchased a mosin 7.62 hand gun revolver. and was wondering about ammo i have found ammo for it online. but was thinking the round looks alot like a .32 S&W long. so another question is there any ammo out there that can be used in the firearm (like in a ,357 a person can use .38spl or like with the russian and polish makrov which is a 9x18 ie .9mm and in some cases .410 and .45 long colt ad in rare case .32acp for .32 long) so any help. im not going to fire this gun till i have had time to look over it and get the right ammo so if there is a sub. for this ammo let me know

Does it have to be a certain kind of .410 or will any .410 shot a .45 cal bullet???
also does anyone know anything about .410 handguns?
Interedted in buying one but dont have much knowledge on them, any help would be awesome! Thanks
Ghost

I would like to start a company making firearms, and I have a few ideas that are not on the market and would like to know if there is interest in them.

I would like to make bolt action rifles in .223 or .308 with the following features:

Controlled round feed (Mauser style action)
Integral Weaver scope mounts
Feeds from an AR15 or M1A (M14) magazines
Has AR15 style flip-up backup iron sights (BUIS)
22 inch button rifled, target crowned barrels (tyring to get sub-MOA accuracy)
Dual front sling swivels for both a sling and bipod

I want a weapon that would make a good law enforcement patrol rifle, sportsman's rifle, all purpose firearm. I will do my best to bring it in at a reasonable price, under $700 if I can, under $1000 will be a must.

So what do people think? Would you buy it? Is my estimated price too high for the features I mentioned?

I have other ideas I would like to try as well:

A Thompson Contender pistol upper capable of handling .460 S&W, 454 Casull, .45 Colt and 3 inch .410 Gauge with external muzzle threading for a muzzle break or external threaded choke tube (no wrench required), adjustable fiber optic iron sights AND weaver rail, for the ultimate survival handgun.

A modern high capacity, locked breach handgun in 7.62x25 Tokarev.

I would be thankful for any feedback on these ideas

I know there is a .45 Colt/.410 Gauge barrel for the Contender, I have one. There are two problems with it.
1) it will handle the high pressure .45 colt loads, but they are expensive and hard to find in stores.
2) you have to use a choke wrench to remove the choke

Since 454 casull is a easy cartridge to find now days, and is cheaper than the Buffalo Bore .45 Colt, and all three use the same rifling twist and the chamber is deep enough for a .410 you just need to make the barrel pressure rated for the .460 S&W. And with an external threaded barrel, you will not need a wrench to remove the choke, making the switch between shotgun and pistol faster, and if in a pinch you had to fire the shot shell with the choke off the gun, you will not damage the threads.
Let me just say:
I have been a life long shooter and sportsman. I have competed at Camp Perry in service rifle. I have served with the Army and local law enforcement. I have a masters degree and working on a PhD in metallurgical engineering, and have worked as a machinist and in fab shops.

These ideas are things that in my experience I would like to own, and am curious if there are other people who would like them or would like to add options or their own ideas. Please, I ask you nicely, don't use this question to just insult me.

I am looking for bulk 100-1000 rounds of rifled slug ammunition for my handgun. If anyone can give me a site that I could find this on I would appreciate it. Also .45 Colt Lead, no brass, I want to reload to save some money, as well as a good set of Dies for this, any info will help. Thanks.
I want a more accurate round though, something that has more of a round full metal jacket. I am going to have some of my engineers here at the company design a 2 1/2 inch .45 shell with a tungsten core and pointed tip, and yes its for the Judge. Or a 2 or 2.5 oz slug shell in .410. This is for experimental purposes only and I have all the machines to build and manufacture weapons and ammo as well as the materials.

Well i'm planning on buy a handgun for self-deffence and fun. I've looked and read about the judge, but id like to kno what yall think about it., Also i kno that it takes .410 2 1/2 shells but i looked on there website and think they have a newer one takes 3 inch magnum .410s is that true, the taurus's website wasnt too clear on the description.
yah i love shootin varmits!!! haha
i would like the 3"mangum cuz there is more higher grade 3" 410 shells, i like golden bear 410, i think the all metal shotshells look more sofistocated

I am going to buy a gun but not really sure what I want. I do know I want something unique. I am looking for something under $400. Some things I found that I like are....

Yugo SKS in 7.62x39
Saiga in .410
Cobray M11 in 9mm
Armscor M16 in .22 cal
Mac 10 in 9mm or .45 acp

I already have an AK and M44 and all the handguns I can handle and I dont want a shotgun. This gun will be strickly for fun and target shooting. So what do you think? If you have any other good ideas feel free to shoot em out there.

PS - I am looking for something I can take to the range and people are WOWed by it as every gun I have now other people already have.

Looking for a revolver to take along hiking in snake country, I understand the 45 410 is a cool revolver...any comments on them and where can I get one. I think Im going to replace my 10mm auto with it.

I was wondering what all handguns there are, that use cartridges originally meant for rifles. The few that i can come up with are the tons of .22LR pistols such as the Ruger my grandmother owns, or also the FNH Five-Seven, using the 5.7mm round originally intended for their P90 rifle. I also saw a revolver at Scheels that can use .410 shotgun shells!

Would there be any that use .17HMR (my new favorite backyard plinker round, thanks to my Savage Mako varmit gun) in either a revolver or, especially, a clip-fed pistol? I know i've seen some that i think were just 17 mach 2 (i think HMR is mach 3).

So what all handguns are out there that use cartridges originally meant for rifles? I mean i doubt there's any 30.06 revolvers, but i'd believe it if there were 7.62x39mm semi-auto pistols, probably either from the guys who made the AK's, or Norinco, etc.

I already own a couple .22's and a .410 but no pistol. I want something with some more recoil than a .22 but they say i don't need one. I've already saved up the money for at least a glock and a couple mags. I have been around guns for almost all of my life. How to convince?

I shot clay pigeons today for the first time, and now I'm hooked. I have been target shooting for well over fifteen years with rifles and handguns, but I've hardly ever touched a shotgun until today. I fired a 410, 20, and 12 gauge. In the 20, I shot a pump and a semi. Obviously, I liked the semi-auto the best, but I'm not ruling out a pump. I'm looking for quality, but not too expensive. I doubt whether I'll ever hunt, so this will be strictly for trap.
Thanks for the info DTT. Can I get a decent trap gun for around $500? How much is the Rem 870 Trap? I don't want to spend too much because as for right now, I don't know how often I'll be able to shoot. This will be strictly for fun. I doubt whether I'll ever get competitive.
