Would it be OK for Don Imus to tell some jokes about Obama's kids and their nappy heads?

What's with the double-standard about vicious Liberal insults and over -the-top offensive " jokes " ?

Why is it that Wanda Sykes can get away with saying that she wishes Rush would have kidney failure and Dave Letterman can hurl dozens and dozens of insults and offensive comments about Sarah Palin's sex life & personal life and the sex lives & personal lives of her teenage daughters getting knocked up by Arod but NOBODY dares to say one word about the Obamessiah or anyone in the Obama family ?

Why did so many people call for Imus' firing after 1 offensive remark that he jokingly made but so few people are calling to fire Sykes or Letterman from their shows after dozens of offensive remarks they have made against Rush & the entire Palin family ?

yes the black community wanted him fired immediately and cbs did indeed fire him but letterman can bash palins daughter and nothing happens to him but an apology come on this country is racist indeed toward the white people how much are we gonna take

How is it that Don Imus, who was known for pushing the limits with some of his comments, was fired for making a jokingly racist remark against the Rutgers Women's basketball team, yet David Letterman doesn't even feel the need to apologize for joking about Sarah Palin's daughter being "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez and should stay away from Elliot Spitzer?

Also, do you buy into the fact that Letterman claims to have been talking about Palin's older daughter and not her 14-year old?
And yes, Imus eventually found work again, but he STILL apologized, despite the fact that he had already lost his job.

Or doesn't he care about Lettermans remarks about Palins daughter ? Or does he not do that for white conservative women ? Thanks in advance for your answers. God bless.

Not one feminist group sticks up for Palin and her daughter. And rarely a liberal either....What gives?

In fact I would say Letterman's is worse because it was rehearsed, planned and scripted.

Also since his show is not aired live CBS had an opportunity to edit the disgusting statutory rape joke concerning Palin's 14 year old daughter and A-rod - so why didn't they?
I agree with the statement that A-rod was also a victim in this sick joke, - I hope he makes a statement repudiating this entire sick joke.

Where are the feminists over a much worse joke about Palin's 14 yr old daughter and over Palins looks as being "sl.tly stewardess"?? Why isn't Letterman getting fired?

Double standard? Hypocrisy?

Do you think David Letterman should be held accountable for his comments about Sarah Palin's daughter just like Don Imus was over the NAPPY HEADED HO'S comment I sure do whats good for one should be good for all oh I guess because letterman is a liberal he shouldn't be held accountable! Just like Obama and th rest!

for what he's been saying about Sarah Palins' daughter, after all the liberals calling for Don Imus to be fired? Imus, at least apologized and the people he insulted were willing public figures. Sarah Palins daughter didn't ask for publicity she was just telling people to learn from her mistakes. Oberman is the biggest scumbag I've ever seen in my life.
he's always lying and taking things out of context.

Let me ask you pointedly, do you think he should be fired?

SEN. BARACK OBAMA (D-IL), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: I don‘t think MSNBC should be carrying the kinds of hateful remarks that Imus uttered the other day. And he has a track record of making those kinds of remarks.

Look, I‘ve got two daughters who are African-American, gorgeous, tall, and I hope that at some point, are interested enough in sports that they get athletic scholarships. And my wife and I every day are reinforcing our love for them and how special they are.

I don‘t want them to be getting a bunch of information that somehow they‘re less than anybody else. And I don‘t think MSNBC should want to promote that kind of language.

GREGORY: So he should be off the air, off MSNBC and off CBS, off the air completely in your judgment?

OBAMA: Ultimately, you guys are going to have to make that view. He would not be working for me.

Note that his two daughters attended Wrights sermons
Yeah it should be asked again and again until people wake up
Yeah it should be asked again and again until people wake up
To Kung Fu:
Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee after videotapes of his sermons again ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs.

Obama did not clarify whether Wright volunteered to leave his African American Religious Leadership Committee, a loose group of supporters associated with the campaign, or whether the campaign asked him to leave

Yet takes the daughters to a church which spits racist poison?
Mary mou go on You Tube you will find it there, I just watched several clips on Imus and Obama!

This is Obama demanding for NBC to fire Don Imus for his racist remarks against the women's Rutgers basketball team .

“There’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude,” Obama told ABC News in an April 11 interview.

“He didn’t just cross the line,” Obama raged then. “He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America.

Obama has downplayed Wright for Wright's insensitive remarks, saying he has done good work with the poor and AIDS victims. Yet Obama did not afford the same respect to Imus, who has devoted considerable energy to helping children with cancer, wounded war veterans, and others

I guess Imus just had the wrong skin color at the time

Obama is the ultimate hypocrite

I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News in a story dated April 11, 2007, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude."

"He didn't just cross the line," Obama said. "He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America. The notions that as young African-American women – who I hope will be athletes – that that somehow makes them less beautiful or less important. It was a degrading comment. It's one that I'm not interested in supporting."
He should of fired Wright, he offended many ethnic groups.
jas, he admitted today he sat through wrights hate speeches

I think that the world has lost any sense of toughness. Everyone is sooo overly sensitive that speech is constantly being hindered and everyone is a victim. I know a woman who's daughter was "acquaintance raped" years ago and she now is on disability and attending community college on taxpayer dollars because she suffers from "second hand post traumatic stress disorder". Don Imus gets fired because he's stupid and made a derogatory comment! Al Sharpeton gets involved and the victim game gets started all over again. Why can't people just toughen up and roll with the punches once in awhile? What would the people who lived through the great depression say when people bitch about gaining too much weight and blame it on McDonalds? Am I alone in this belief that people need to just f-u-c-k-i-n-g deal with it?!

Here is the timeline of events that have passed since I was last on, based on my selective memory:

Nancy Pelosi went to Siria to try to show up the administration and show what a communist she really is.

Don Imus was kicked off his MSNBC and radio show after he called the Rutgers female basketball team nappy headed ho's and A-hole Sharpton served him up as an example of genuine racism even though Imus is an equal opportunity insulter,

Cho Sung Hui (or however you pronounce that dirtbag' name) went on a killing spree at Va.Tech because he was a social outcast.

Alec Baldwin's recorded message to his daughter was discovered by mass media and he was greatly chastised for it.

Finally, Michael Vick was in the news last night after it was discovered that one of his homes is being used for dog-fighting. And to think I was a Michael Vick fan, and not just for his athletic ability...

I'll try to not miss all the fun next time.

Is it more palatable to keep Baldwin around because he has a more high profile show than Imus? Two weeks ago Don Imus used racial terms on an anonymous basketball team, Alec Baldwin called HIS OWN DAUGHTER A PIG! Is it right that he gets a walk because he can only deal with his ex wife by beating up on his daughter on the phone?

Who's comments were worse, Alec Baldwin's to his own young daughter, or Don Imus' to adult women he didn't even know? Support your opinion.

Alec is funny on 30 rock but I must say that the comments made to his daughter is verbal child abuse and should be dealt with harshly by NBC. Imus made an ill mannered tastless racist joke/comment but at least he did not completly berate his his 11 year old child just because she didn't pick up the phone. Alec Balwin is a sorry excuse for a human. Lets see if NBC has the guts to can this idiot
People get fired/suspended at work for things they do in thier private life all the time. Pac man jones was just suspended by the nfl for a year for just basicly being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alec is in the public eye and fair or not what he does in his private life that gets out in the public makes an impact and he should be held responsible for his actions. He represents NBC and they have the right and the duty to repremand him for giving himself and the network a black eye.

Now is the time to hold all the rappers and hip hop artists accountable for their mysoginist lyrics and videos. If you don't want the young girls to grow up bent over shaking their hindparts and being called bi*ch and ho, that is our daughters, our neices, our granddaughters, neighbors, our son's girfriends, daughters in law, then boycott these artists. And this is not about race, Imus showed us that all women are being demeaned by this music.

I'm starting with 50 cent, lil john and Snoop Dogg. Even though I like some of their songs, I am sick and tired of the denigration of women. So I am the first. I will not buy their CDs and I will not listen to radio stations that play them. Who is with me?

BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT!
Yes I did decide to do this after Oprah. Why? Because I was so frustrated about this and felt I couldn't do anything. Now that Oprah, the most watched show on tv has come out against this, I think we have a chance of making a real change. I know I will not be the only one. And yes, we should boycott the corporations as well, but It is the rappers saying those lyrics, nobody put a gun to their heads and they have mothers and daughters and a community to answer to.
Maybe they will still make money, but guess what, they are sensitive to their fans opinions. I think they are especially sensitive to being critisized by the African American community. I saw Russel Simmons, probably a billionare looking like he wanted to cry. That tells you something.

For all of you out there (mostly White people) who want to claim that Imus' firring was an "injustice," that he was made a scapegoat, and that he was only doing "what rappers do;" check this story out..

DJ Fired Over X-Rated Racial Slurs

NEW YORK -- Hip-hop disc jockey Star, half the radio duo that hosts the syndicated "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show," was fired Wednesday over racial and sexual remarks he made about a rival's wife and 4-year-old daughter.

Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, worked for Clear Channel Radio's Power 105.1 FM before losing his job when his on-air comments about DJ Envy and his family drew protests from a City Council member and other elected officials.

Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio station owner, said it found his statements "wholly unacceptable."

"As of late this afternoon, he is no longer with Power 105.1 or Clear Channel Radio.

Hmm?

my personal opinion is yes. I think what he said was wrong, I wouldn't want that said about my mom, sisters,or daughter. but this is america and we as americans black, white, red, brown, etc. have the right of free speech, and also the freedom of choice. if you don't like what he says don't listen to him. people say things that are racist, sexiest, and politcally incorrect everyday. iv'e watched the chappelle show many times and laughed out loud, same with south park. i also listen to all types of music and heard lyrics that are uncalled for, but i had the opportunity to change the channel. the girls admitted they had never seen the show so how did they know what he said? sharpton and jackson never even met with the girls but took up their cause. i am curious to see what music was in the girls cd collection. the only reason imus was fired was his influence. he was a threat to a political agenda and a thorn in the side of politicians.

I think so...calling those girls that kind of stuff..if they were my daughter I would want to smack the teeth out of his mouth...

Frankly, I don't agree with Imus on most issues, but in my view, people are taking this comment he made way too far. Why isn't anyone scolding the rappers for their foul language, and personal attacks? Also, women's basketball team is acting pathetic in my opinion. I mean, come on! They seem to be giving this man way too much power over them. In my opinion, everyone needs to, as my daughter would say, "GET OVER IT!" What say you all?
Excuse me java, but I do read the news, and the fact that the women's basketball team made an issue of it all was a shame. Most were saying they were, "crushed", "devastated". Come on!!
I'll be 41 next month, and my mother is Native American. Racist? Not hardly.
Are any of you whom disagree with me going to address the rappers, and their outrageous rhetoric?!
John O- Not at all. I know my daughter isn't any of those things, and I have the maturity to rise above it, and so does she. It's nothing to me.
Soulsflow, I don't agree with Paris Hilton's behavior, or lifestyle, but that's not the point. Paris Hilton does get called down frequently by the media. She's often called a "brainless bimbo", "a slut..." I guess it's you that doesn't pay attention to things. Give me a break! You're right, those women have accomplished a lot, and I'm sure it wasn't easy, but yet, they're letting this old man have power over them. Pathetic.
TerryO, aren't rappers always degrading women, calling them "bitches, and ho's"? Yes, indeed they are. Why aren't you outraged at that? This women shouldn't be offended, because indeed, they're NOT "nappy-headed ho's". I think blacks should get over it, whites, women should get over it, and everybody else!
lokisuit, please. My mother is Native American, and has told us nightmare stories about how she was treated as a kid. She got over it, and lets no one get her down. I think maybe you should join the Black Panthers.
Misguide, I agree with you. EVERYONE should be held to the same standards. As for the women basketball team, I still think it's a shame that these women let this man have so much power over them, and made it verbally known. Thanks for the intelligent response with no personal attacks.
ProudAmerican, thanks for the response, and I think you've made an excellent point!
Excellent point, Shawna!
=^..^=IrieGirl=^..^= , The rappers have a powerful voice that reaches millions. Yes, they should be held to the very same standard as Imus was held to, and for you not to think so makes you a hypocrite, with all due respect.

You'd be feeling ok with that, would you?
What a bunch of liars.
If this guy spoke of your family this wayon national radio, you'd "blow it off"??
What kind of parents are you?

This was a trajedy in the lives of these girls. They did nothing and were attacked. I'm black, if these were white girls, I would have felt terrible. I'm a father of a daughter, I would have been beside myself. I know there are many who are racist and care less in here about minorities, less alone blacks. Okay. What about the human part of you? What do you think about the paint to these girls, that Imus has caused? Or, are they just monkeys as some in here have called me. God Bless

With all the talk about Imus we have lost the beginning that there was a girls basketball game that went on. Forget the score and who won, it just became an arena for some politicians to settle another score. Sharpton should be ashamed of himself, what has he done for college sports? And his daughter dissing Imus that he was not sincere, who made her the sincerity police--her father?

If I name my daughter,
Nappy Ho
I'm racist. But if I name her
Shake Yo Ass You Nappy Ass Ho
Then it's all good.
Right?

What would you say to her about Don Imus comments ? What kind of action would you want taken ??

Don imus? Al Sharpton ?

Our attention has been diverted from the War.

Nice to see that the fact that our best men and woman who are green and blue first , Then white ,black and brown.

Have taken a back seat to the yellow.

oh by the way people at any give time there at least 24 different anti american organization who are more than willing
to unleash mass death and distruction on our sons and daughters mother fathers and sister whether they are black brown or white red or tan.

If your are a white Suprimist and want to be a martyr for your cause go fight over seas they pose the greatest threat to the aryan nation.

And if you are black an want to combat injustice Al qaeda will make lynching look like the easy way out if they start chopping off heads for offensives such as walking the street without wearing your vale

Yesterday, I was watching Sharpton on the Glenn Beck Show. Glen Beck asked him if he was upset that these girls were called hos.

Sharpton went on to say that yes, when you have a daughter who EXCELs it is upsetting to hear them called a ho.

Glen Beck said well even if you have a daughter who doesn't excel it is upsetting. It was a brief exchange but the light bulb went off in my head.

My theory is that in the black community, or in our society as a whole, but especially in the black community ie. rappers, comedians, that it is okay to call normal women hos but never someone who excels.

That just strikes me as so wrong but the logic fits in my mind. It angers me that the so-called black leaders won't say anything against rap music but they want Don Imus fired.

Am I off base or on to something? Please let me know.
Thank you.

What about refering to these WOMEN athletes who are also studing to be doctors and lawyers as ho's? Are there any women who are outraged by this? Playing an aggressive male dominated sport makes you a HO? Having tattoos makes you a HO? Are there any MEN out there that will stand up for your moms, daughters and sisters reguardless of color against this behavoir? What he said was wrong and to use an excuse like rappers do it was a poor shifting of blame and shoes me he's realy NOT sorry. (And no I do not condone rappers doing it either) If someone spits on you and you spit back you become just as guilty. And as far as the free speech thing, in the 20's-60's there was a free speech sign that said "WHITES ONLY".

This country's hypocritic soul is in BAD need of an enima. No doubt what crawled out of Imus's mouth was uncalled for, but my god, how we DO love to play the "victim". Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are the LAST people on the planet to be casting the first stones at another for making for racist remarks. I would also ask America how many times a day terms like "nappy-headed", or "ho" are used by blacks as compared to whites? Be honest. It's high time ALL of us get over our selectively hypersensitive selves. Let's not forget that a half a world away, human beings are tearing apart other human beings in the name of RELIGION, and our own sons and daughters of ALL races are forced into the middle of this holocaust by a monkey-puppet spokesface of a greedy, evil cabal.

peace
How so, American?

Would Pelosi be excused because she wore a scarf?
Rutgers has no responsibility either? They are not in cosmetology school after all.
BTW thank god my daughter stopped playing basket ball.
It's all Imus's fault. Is it?
Is it all Imus's fault-------or are we.....?
All of US - white, black, purple....
